A Reading from Mark, Chapter 10, Verse 6-9 & 13-16
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female’.
‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united
with his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer
two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not
separate.” People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him
touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was
indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do
not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell
you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a
little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms,
put his hands on them and blessed them.
A Reading from John, Chapter 15, Verse 9-12
As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If
you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love just as I have kept
my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these
things to you so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be
complete. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have
loved you.
A Reading from Matthew, Chapter
19, Verse 4-6
Jesus
said, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male
and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and
shall cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are
no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not
man put asunder.
A Reading from Matthew, Chapter 5.1-10
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and
after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and
taught them, saying:
'Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called
children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness'
sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'
A Reading from John, Chapter 2.1-11
On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and
the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to
the wedding. When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, 'They
have no wine.' And Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what concern is that to you and
to me? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever
he tells you.' Now standing there were six stone water-jars for the Jewish
rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to
them, 'Fill the jars with water.' And they filled them up to the brim. He said
to them, 'Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward.' So they took
it. When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know
where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the
steward called the bridegroom and said to him, 'Everyone serves the good wine
first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you
have kept the good wine until now.' Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in
Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
